The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed at least one reported Lassa fever case in each of the 19 states in the current outbreak which started in December 2016.
These 19 states are Ogun, Bauchi, Borno, Kano, Lagos, Cross River, Plateau, Ebonyi, Kogi, Enugu, Ondo, Taraba, Edo, Rivers, Nasarawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Anambra and Kwara.
The outbreak was more active in Ondo, Edo, Plateau, Bauchi, Ogun, Kaduna, Kwara and Lagos states than other parts of the country.
From the beginning of the December 2016 outbreak, a total of 263 cases have been classified, 249 confirmed and 85 deaths recorded. In Plateau, there was a suspected case, and two new cases confirmed in Edo. Notwithstanding, no death has been registered within the week.
However, there were two pending results from Ondo and one from Plateau.
